ActionCampSA: Bringing social media and more to non-profits

My first job out of college was with a non-profit so not only do I have an understanding of what the people go through who are working in the trenches on some of the most difficult (and most rewarding work) out there. I also have a deep and abiding respect for them too. So when Luis Sandoval (@Pandaran) mentioned his idea of ActionCamp to me several months ago, I jumped at the chance to help organize a free unconference to help non-profits get up to speed with using social media to promote their causes and fundraising efforts.

But ActionCampSA isn’t only about how to use social media. It’s so much more. It’s a unique opportunity for non-profits from all over San Antonio and surrounding areas to gather together. ActionCampSA is where non-profits will share their knowledge with each other about the challenges they face as well as the clever ways they stretch their marketing dollars to get the word out about what they’re doing. By talking about their best practices on fundraising to how to write grants to how to use Twitter, Facebook, blogging and other social media tools to impact their bottom line, non-profits will come together on the campus of St. Mary’s University on Saturday, September 12 to learn, share and grow with each other.

Luis and I share a vision that those who attend will walk away from ActionCampSA not only with an aresenal of great tips and new ways to help them achieve their goals but also with a list of newfound colleagues, possible collaborators and friends with whom they can continue the non-profit conversation.

ActionCampSA wouldn’t be possible without the help of our generous sponsors. We’d like to thank them here for their kind support of ActionCampSA!
