Floating Down the SXSW River
My mini-roadtrip from San Antonio to Austin for SXSW starts in the morning. First on the agenda? A full day of meeting, learning from, and sharing with some of the best and brightest minds in social media and healthcare in the country at SXSH (South by Social Health). Next I’ll spend five days huddled up with people who eat, live, breathe, and sing (Yes, sing!) tech and social media.
My normal plan of attack would have been to start hyperventilating, oh, about six weeks ago, fretting over:
- How will I do everything?
- How will I meet everyone?
- How can I pace myself?
- What should my schedule be?
- What will I miss?
But I’m taking a detour off of my usual Path to Crazy to embrace a newer, calmer self. I’ll be floating through SXSW as relaxed as if I was lounging on a tube in the Guadalupe River: savoring the sights and sounds around me, high-fiving my fellow tubers, hopping out occasionally to check out the wildlife on the banks, enjoying the occasional brewski and taking part in many cool conversations. Save for a few scheduled activities, I’ll go where the flow takes me.
