Colleen Pence

After gaining 16 years of experience in traditional marketing and public relations while working for the San Antonio Symphony, Marmok Mok (a legendary San Antonio architecture firm) and BluePhoenix Solutions/ASNA (an international software company), Colleen Pence launched Social Media Mentoring.

She now mentors businesses–both large and small–through the sometimes confusing, often overwhelming world of social media. Colleen teaches companies the benefits and nuances of using social media while tailoring strategic social media plans that fit the needs of each specific business.

Colleen began blogging four years ago and pulled in an average audience of five thousand unique visitors each month. Her latest blogs are Social Media Mentoring where she discusses the benefits of using social media for business and Work from Home Mama on the San Antonio Express-News web site, MySA.com.

Colleen has written for several other popular blogs including: Savvy Source San Antonio, The Parent Bloggers Network (product reviews), The Soccer Mom Vote (political and social commentary) and MusingMama (unique perspectives on parenting). Colleen created and still writes for and manages Start Here. Grow Far. (for Baby Potential, an apparel company) as well as The Bloom Blog for Bloom Maternity. She also developed and edited content for RPGDevNet, the company blog for the iSeries division of BluePhoenix Solutions.

She’s been active on Twitter for over two years and has helped many clients across various industries (restaurant, banking, retail, internet, hospitality, non-profit) learn how to understand and harness the power of Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, and blogging to successfully introduce them to, and help them engage with, customers and prospects.

Colleen is a co-organizer of San Antonio’s first TweetCampSA, a free, annual community event that brings together an eclectic group of social media newbies and experts to discuss and share knowledge about Twitter and other microblogging platforms that are continually evolving for business and personal use.

Along with her co-organizer, Luis Sandoval, Colleen created San Antonio’s first ActionCampSA, a free community event providing Web 2.0 and social media education to non-profit organizations.

And, Colleen is a co-organizer of Social Media Breakfast San Antonio and an active member of Social Media Club San Antonio.

Colleen recently accepted a position on the editorial board of M.D. News San Antonio, a physician-to-physician healthcare publication.
